Looney Brings Measure of Stability to Dubs Frontcourt
Kevon Looney exercised his $5.2M player option to return to the Golden State Warriors, for what will be his seventh season with the team. He started a career-high 34 games in the abbreviated 2020 season. Loon was rightfully taking it easy this offseason after his second career season playing over 1,000 minutes. Kevon Looney has decided to return to the Golden State Warriors this season and this is good, as the team might need him more than you think.
Looney has spent his entire career in the Bay and has become something of a fan favorite. He played his heart out in the 2019 NBA Finals when his number was called upon and he’s been an integral member of the squad during the last few seasons as the roster has undergone a near-complete overhaul.
There’s a small chance Looney could be packaged in a trade, but it feels unlikely given the depth at center. Assuming he sticks around through the offseason, let’s look at what Kevon brings to the table for the Dubs this upcoming season.
