Moses Moody provides Golden State Warriors with offense

Yet another Montverde Academy player projected to go in the lottery, Moody was a lights-out shooter for a fun Arkansas team to watch, and really showed out on the defensive end as well. Though not the flashy or oozing with talent, Moody is an incredibly intelligent two-way wing built for the NBA. He’s currently slotted as the 10th overall prospect on my board.

Offense

Shooting, shooting, shooting. That’s what you get with Moody on offense. Arguably the best movement shooter in the class, his existence on the floor raised the baseline for Arkansas. If Moody is in either corner, sag off at your own risk. He was absolutely blistering from either spot and created plenty above the break to force defenses to think. His stroke is pure off the catch and the dribble, with a strong release point to boot.

What makes Moses extra deadly is his savvy and use of hesitations. He’s excellent at creating space with shoulder fakes and dips. His one-dribble moves to relocate for more space are buttery. Being a set shooter is a big tool for a wing, but having a bag of moves to keep the defense on their toes can make you a serious perimeter threat.

Short of self-creation on the perimeter, Moody is behind other top prospects in terms of playmaking and rim pressure. Though he is excellent at foul drawing and has strength, it didn’t translate to success at the cup with Arkansas. Having the tools to develop those traits at 19 years old is workable for a team like the Warriors.

Though overall upside as a primary creator is limited at best, Moody’s dynamic scoring and off-ball movement skills give him a clear path to NBA success. He translates well to the motion offense, with triple-threat aggression and the ability to attack closeouts.
