Golden State Warriors should pass on Pascal Siakam

Pascal Siakam is a name that has been in the news lately as the potential for Golden State to flip both of their draft picks, Andrew Wiggins AND James Wiseman for the Raptors’ star has gained traction.

However, if it isn’t obvious enough, Siakam is not worth this much of an overhaul. He is only a few levels above Wiggins in terms of production. What’s more, his lack of a consistent 3-point shot actually makes Wiggins a better two-way fit than Siakam.

We won’t focus on just the negatives, though. Siakam is a great athlete with size and speed in transition. He’s a versatile defender who played a pivotal role in knocking off the Warriors for a championship in 2019.

Siakam would likely be more reliable for the Warriors when the lights get bright. He is averaging 18.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in his last two playoff appearances.  Still, the cost of giving up draft picks and a promising prospect in Wiseman just isn’t worth it in the end.
