Golden State Warriors should pursue Domantas Sabonis

There aren’t many scenarios in which the Golden State Warriors can trade for a star and fill their need for a frontcourt presence. Domantas Sabonis is one player who fits this mold.

Sabonis is a lumbering 6’11” center with chops for playmaking and a soft touch on the perimeter. He made 52 total 3-pointers last season and dished out nearly seven assists per game. This versatile on offense makes him a dream player for the Dubs.

Adding a sound post scorer to the Warriors’ offense will be killer. Sabonis can operate in the paint and has the vision to find cutters/shooters from the block. Not to mention, he averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds per game in his second All-Star appearance last year.

The Warriors would be losing Andrew Wiggins and potentially James Wiseman (and maybe even picks) for Sabonis. Yet, his steady paint presence would fit so seamlessly next to Draymond Green and the Splash Brothers, it’s hard not to consider this deal. Especially when the Pacers would need to include additional assets to match contracts, making it possible for wings like T.J. Warren or Jeremy Lamb to join the Dubs, as well.
