Golden State Warriors should pass on Bradley Beal

The closer we get to seeing the Splash Brothers play together once again, the more I believe the Golden State Warriors should simply sit put. Or, at minimum, don’t make a blockbuster trade simply for the sake of adding anyone with star power.

The Warriors have a great team at their core. The big three is enough to put them in title contention, now it’s all about building a strong supporting cast. While they shouldn’t ignore an opportunity to add another All-Star, they should take fit into account as well.

Bradley Beal just doesn’t fit. Yes, his elite scoring ability would help the Warriors outshoot their opponents but the size he gives up on defense might be too much to overcome. Trading for Beal could mean becoming vulnerable defensively.

Above all else, swapping for Beal means losing Andrew Wiggins and James Wiseman — two players who can be vital to the Warriors’ defense next season. This isn’t a matter of simply downgrading for the sake of offense, this is a full-on sacrifice on one end of the floor.

The Warriors will be better off sticking to their guns and looking to add a few role players this offseason rather than swinging for the fences and potentially striking out.
