The Golden State Warriors diehard fanbase is craving Klay Thompson‘s return.

Thompson last took the court in the 2019 NBA Finals in which his first of two season-ending injuries happened. When Thompson went up for a dunk with Raptors’ guard Danny Green contesting, he came down wrong and tore his ACL.

Despite Klay Thompson having been injured prior to the 2020-2021 season, he’s still not expected to suit up for the Golden State Warriors until December.

While rehabbing to get back on the court before this past season, Thompson ruptured his Achilles. Both injuries have sidelined the five-time All-Star guard for a substantial time, but he should be looking to return at the end of 2021.

Thankfully, Thompson is making progress. He gave an inside look into how the recovery from his ruptured Achilles is going.

"“Rehab is going very well. I had a great day today. Made some huge strides. Got some jumpers up. It just feels good to get up and down the floor, man,” Thompson said on his Instagram via NBC Sports."

It’s great to hear that he’s making “huge” strides. However, fans need to temper their expectations as Thompson still isn’t expected to be back in action for several months.

"I think it’s more likely December, but I don’t know when,” Myers said via NBC Sports’ Brian Witt."

Thompson is one of the best shooters in the NBA. He’s one of the best shooters of all time.

On top of that, Thompson has proven to be one of the best two-way defenders in the league, and losing that ability could be a bit more catastrophic to his value. If his athleticism is drastically depleted due to his injuries, it could be brutal for the Warriors’ ability to contend.

The 6-foot-6 guard averaged over 20 points per game for five straight seasons. On top of that, he’s shot over 40 percent from deep throughout each of his eight seasons in the NBA. Having him back on the court will be paramount to Golden State’s success.

Golden State has missed the playoffs in both the last two seasons. Not having Thompson has been brutal, and thankfully, he’s at least slated to return this coming season and is starting to get back in action.

Getting Thompson up to full strength will be important for the Dubs, but it must be slowly and on his time. As we saw with Kevin Durant, getting back before 100 percent may lead to a further injury. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen again.
