Pros of Golden State Warriors drafting Davion Mitchell

Last season, we saw how Stephen Curry’s lack of a true backup put immense pressure on the team. It was difficult for Curry to take a rest without the Golden State Warriors losing all momentum.

This is why the Dubs should be considering a guard in the upcoming draft. And, Mitchell is one of the best players at this position in his class.

Mitchell averaged 14.0 points and 5.5 assists on above 40 percent shooting from the 3-point line. He displayed strong defensive instincts and an unselfish attitude that helped Baylor win the NCAA Championship.

These qualities make Mitchell a prospect who will be garnering attention from each team in the lottery but will be most appealing to those looking to take an immediate step forward. There doesn’t appear to be a superstar future for Mitchell but he fits the mold of a role player who can elevate the rest of his team.

While rebuilding teams might be more interested in prospects with more potential such as Scottie Barnes, Jalen Johnson or even Moses Moody, Mitchell is appealing to the Dubs because he is a readily available asset.

He’s already shown he can play winning basketball and his well-rounded skillset will bode well for the Dubs right away.
