Move that could devastate Warriors offseason: Kelly Oubre Jr. signed elsewhere

The Golden State Warriors will have a shot at bringing back Kelly Oubre Jr. While it doesn’t sound like the two sides are on great terms, there are reports that they’re on the “same page” which sounds hopeful.

Oubre Jr. was initially brought in after Thompson ruptured his Achilles.

The Dubs went into panic mode, and he was the result. While his scoring dipped for the first time in his career year-over-year, he did play well, dropping a career-high 40 points against the Dallas Mavericks.

Oubre Jr. will likely head elsewhere, and that could be a tough pill to swallow for the Warriors. Teams like the Knicks have interest in the 25-year-old guard. Where Oubre Jr. goes isn’t too much in Golden State’s control, and they’re unlikely to match the $20 million annually he’s expecting.

Oubre Jr. on Golden State with a healthy Big 3 would be a tremendous amount of firepower. However, Oubre Jr. should sign elsewhere, and no one would blame him. But, wasting the TPE on a one-year stint from Oubre Jr. may be seen as a failure.
