Move that could devastate Warriors offseason: Another team moves up in draft

The Golden State Warriors may be able to exchange their two draft picks with one. They have the No. 7 and No. 14 overall picks in the 2021 NBA Draft. Teams like Orlando and Cleveland may be looking to trade their picks, and the Warriors have the assets to trade up.

That’s how they can get a more valuable asset. At that point, they could then trade for a player like Pascal Siakam or Myles Turner. At least for Siakam or potentially even a bigger superstar, having the No. 7 overall pick isn’t going to cut it.

If others team trade into these spots, it will limit the Warriors options, especially in terms of a potential trade.

Coupling the 7 and 14 for the 3rd or 4th pick would be ideal, and it’s something Golden State must consider. With the 1-6 draft picks almost locked in, the Warriors may need to move up to intrigue teams looking to trade their star for a high-value pick.

If one or two teams move up in the next few weeks or even on draft night and the Warriors can’t get a more valuable pick, it could hurt their ability to make an impactful trade.

That’s something undoubtedly out of their control moving forward which is why getting a trade done sooner rather than later may be ideal for Golden State.
