Golden State Warriors can target Jalen Suggs

To be clear, the Golden State Warriors will have to negotiate with either the Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors or Orlando Magic in order to move up in the 2021 NBA Draft and secure the opportunity to select Jalen Suggs.

This proposal might be the most difficult of the bunch to pull off but it is a possibility. The Dubs have enough assets to interest the Cavs, Raptors and Magic in a deal. The question is, do the Warriors think Suggs is worth the price of multiple lottery picks AND James Wiseman? Because that is what it will cost to acquire him.

Suggs flashed his star potential in the NCAA tournament and solidified his status as a top-five pick. He’s an entertaining guard with talents as a scorer, shooter, passer and defender. As a freshman, Suggs averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists.

Golden State would benefit for years from Suggs being in the backcourt next to the Splash Brothers. In due time, he could even take the torch from Stephen Curry and lead the next generation. That is if the Warriors are willing to take the risk of giving up assets for an incoming rookie.

Overall, this deal is a major risk for Golden State. There is no telling how quickly Suggs will even be able to make an impact. Yet, at this current moment, Suggs has a higher ceiling than Wiseman or any of the prospects the Warriors could select later in the lottery. For this reason, moving up in the draft is something the franchise will at least consider.
