Kelly Oubre Jr. could use the experience

He’s 25. And the time is ripe for the Louisiana man to learn from the likes of Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green- all bonafide superstars who know a thing or two about winning championships.

In his defense, he may want a lot more minutes and that is understandable. Naturally, the playing time diminishes when Thompson runs the plays. Oubre Jr. already said he’s got more to offer than just biding his time on the bench before suiting up.

During a March 26 press conference earlier this year, he caused quite a stir with that statement in response to whether he’d be a team man and accept a bench role when Thompson returns from his Achilles injury.

But there is a reason Steve Kerr might have decided to not trade his guard. If we go back to considering his age, he’s probably viewed as one for the future and that is a big deal if they plan to center their future around Oubre Jr. and Wiseman.

For Oubre Jr. to stay, the torch may need passed sooner rather than later though and that may just not happen.
