Free agent Golden State Warriors should pursue: James Johnson

The Dubs’ ideal addition should be a small forward that can play multiple positions, shoot from deep and guard multiple positions. That’s what Iguodala would give them, and in a young version, James Johnson could also provide that spark.

Johnson stands 6-foot-7 and is 34 years old. He’s been playing in the league for 11 seasons. He most recently spent time with the Mavericks and Pelicans. He’s averaged just 8.8 points per game over his last four years.

While not a sniper, Johnson has knocked down over 30 percent of his triples over the last few seasons. He was better within the arc, shooting 47 percent from the field. He’s capable of scoring efficiently, and he can at least shoot competently from deep.

The Dubs need that stretch four that’s a bit bigger of a defender than Andrew Wiggins. Johnson gives them exactly that, and he would be a stellar addition to their second unit. It’d be a win-win addition for Golden State and the veteran forward.
