Free agent Golden State Warriors should pursue: Cody Zeller

The Golden State Warriors have a frontcourt issue, and it was obvious this past season. It all started with Marquese Chriss fracturing his foot. After he was ruled out for the season, it was down to Kevon Looney and James Wiseman.

Looney has had a running history of injuries as well. Both big men basically missed the entire month of February, forcing the Dubs into small-ball lineups. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it did limit how they can defend big men.

To avoid that next season, they should target Hornets center, Cody Zeller. The 6-foot-11 Zeller was a top-five pick back in the 2013 NBA Draft.

He’s only played for the Hornets, most recently averaging 9.4 points per game. His minutes dropped for the second straight season despite his efficiency hitting a four-year high at 55.9 percent from the field.

Zeller is going to blow you away with his athleticism, but he would be a strong option for the Warriors late in games with his soft touch and ability to defend. The veteran would be a great addition to Golden State.
