Free agent Golden State Warriors should pursue: Daniel Theis

Another big man the Warriors should target is former Celtics center, Daniel Theis. Theis has increased his scoring in each of his four seasons in the NBA. After three full seasons with the Celtics, he was traded to the Bulls.

Theis still managed 65 games and 51 starts on the season, shooting 54 percent from the field. The added bonus that Theis provides is three-point shooting. He knocked down 0.8 triples last season and shot just over 32 percent from deep.

He has a 33.5 career three-point percentage, so that can be expected to improve as well. While he’s not the best rim protector, at 6-foot-8, Theis is competent defensively, averaging .6 steals and .9 blocks in 24.6 minutes per game.

As with Zeller, Theis wouldn’t immediately make Golden State a title favorite, but he would fill noticeable gaps in their roster. The 29-year-old is certainly worth a look. However, I’d expect him to find above a minimum contract elsewhere.
