Free agent Golden State Warriors should pursue: Nicolas Batum

For the Los Angeles Clippers, Nicolas Batum played well. Batum averaged 8.1 points per game. While that’s not impressive as the forward used to notched double figures with ease, he did exactly what was asked of him.

Batum, for the second time in his career, shot over 40 percent from deep. He drilled 1.6 threes per game. His 46.4 percent from the field was also the second-best percentage of his career. He brought efficiency and that’s exactly what they needed from him.

On a team with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, all they needed was for Batum to defend well and be a solid three-point threat. For the Warriors, on a team with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, he’d be asked to play the same role.

Batum has the experience as well. He’s been to the playoffs seven times. The 32-year-old Frenchman may not be a star talent anymore, but he plays his role perfectly. Defending and shooting is something Golden State could always use more of.

Batum would be a quintessential fit on a veteran’s minimum contract.
