1. Detroit Pistons select: Cade Cunningham, G

For all the smoke and mirrors, it would come as a gigantic surprise if the Detroit Pistons selected anyone not named Cade Cunnigham on NBA Draft night. There just isn’t a case for anyone else being the top pick.

Cunningham is as smooth as they come. The ease in which he moves somewhat makes you forget how supremely athletic he is. At 6’8″ with speed and leaping ability, Cunningham is among the best athletes in his class.

And, he’s as skilled as anyone else, as well. Cunningham can handle the ball like a guard, shoot off-dribble from all areas of the floor and excels as a finisher at the rim. He has the ideal build to become a versatile defender and already has the needed court vision to be a primary playmaker on any team.

The Pistons get a superstar to center their rebuild on if they select Cunningham. For that reason, I can’t imagine anyone else goes first overall.
