Golden State Warriors should consider Davion Mitchell in NBA Draft

One issue that arises when using the NBA Draft as an avenue for finding a backup point guard is a lack of experience. For a job as important as running the entire offense — the Golden State Warriors might be more interested in signing a veteran free agent rather than adding a rookie.

Yet, Davion Mitchell is probably the savviest guard they can find in the draft. He isn’t a veteran by any means — but he played four collegiate seasons and is one of the older prospects at 22 years of age. And, the guy has already won a National Championship.

The Warriors likely know what they are getting in Mitchell. A smart decision-maker who is willing to sacrifice his personal accolades for team success. Is there anything else you could want from a backup guard?

Mitchell averaged 14.0 points and 5.5 assists on 44.7 percent shooting from the 3-point line last season. What’s more, he secured the Big-12 Defensive Player of the Year Award for his relentless effort at the point of attack. These are all qualities the Dubs should be interested in bringing to their team.
