Golden State Warriors select Josh Giddey in 2021 NBA Draft

The Golden State Warriors have the luxury of a wide array of prospects who are worthy of being selected at seventh or 14th in the order. Josh Giddey is one who realistically might be available at either spot.

As a towering 6’7″ guard with a well-rounded offensive game — it’s hard for the Warriors not to be wishing for Giddey. He posted impressive stats of 10.9 points, 7.5 assists and 7.4 rebounds as a teenager in the NBL and should be able to have an impact at the NBA level.

Giddey shot a lackluster 29 percent from the 3-point line and turned the ball over quite a bit overseas. But, his playmaking remains an upside as a player with a natural feel for the game and elite court vision.

Shooting and defense, however, are the real concerns. These are aspects that Giddey will need to improve if he wants to be a star in the NBA. Thankfully, the Warriors will only need him to be a valuable role player who can handle the ball. Bumping his shooting to even league average will make Giddey a great pick for Golden State.
