Entering the week, it seemed like the Golden State Warriors’ ideal draft would’ve been for them to not make a single selection. There was one mindset for most in the Warriors fanbase.

Trade the picks and bring in a talent worthy of elevating the roster to that of Western Conference favorites.

The Golden State Warriors only had two picks in the 2021 NBA Draft, but they were able to get absolute steals with their two lottery selections.

Sadly, the trade was never there. It was reported that the Warriors turned down James Wiseman, Andrew Wiggins, both lottery picks and two more first-round picks for Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons, per The Philadelphia Inquirer.

That was never going to happen.

That could’ve been a similar package to what they offered Washington for Bradley Beal. But, at the end of the day, nothing has been agreed upon, and Golden State was forced to use their two lottery picks.

They drafted Jonathan Kuminga from the G-League Ignite with their first pick and then Arkansas’ Moses Moody with their second pick. That said, let’s dive into two reasons why this was an A+ draft for Golden State.
