The Golden State Warriors added a win-now player in Jonathan Kuminga

Jonathan Kuminga was projected to be a top-five pick in the 2021 NBA Draft following him being dubbed the No. 4 player in the Class of 2020. Kuminga opted to head to the G-League Ignite instead of playing at college.

While it’s tough to judge that decision, Kuminga was no longer a man among boys in the G-League, and not being able to bully his way through the lane, Kuminga’s efficiency took a sharp downward turn.

He shot under 40 percent from the field and under 30 percent from deep. He did average 15.8 points per game.

His decision-making was a notable issue for him. That’s one reason he may have dropped in the draft. That and his relatively low floor. His floor, given his efficiency, is very low, but his ceiling is that of a superstar-caliber player.

The Warriors used their pick, not on a high floor player like James Bouknight, but to potentially get a superstar. It was a great move with this pick, especially considering the talent on the board at No. 14.
