The Golden State Warriors added an instant contributor in Moses Moody
“Safe bet to be a productive player for years. His ceiling, however, is unknown,” is how The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor described Moody. He, prior to the draft, ranked him as the 14th-best prospect, exactly where he ended up going.
Moody was a four-star recruit that thrived in his one season in Arkansas. He averaged 16.8 points per game. The most impressive part of Moody’s game is his decision-making, coughing up just 1.6 turnovers per game in college.
At 6-foot-5, Moody is also a terrific defender and has the tool to continue to improve in that department. While, as O’Connor noted, his upside remains limited, there’s no denying that he could instantly provide a viable option behind Andrew Wiggins.
Moody shot 43 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep. He’s also a terrific free-throw shooter. Combine all those, and he should be able to make a solid bench player for Steve Kerr‘s Warriors.
The Warriors drafted a solid player to come off their bench and a high-flying, ultra-athletic player to potentially be the face of the franchise in a few seasons. For those reasons, I’d say this draft was almost as good as they come for Golden State.
