3 Golden State Warriors that’ll benefit the most from draft-day decisions
Golden State Warriors that’ll benefit from draft: Jordan Poole
Jordan Poole has exploded onto the scene in the second half of both seasons he’s played for Golden State. Poole, a former Michigan Wolverine, was the team’s first-round pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
After averaging 8.8 points per game his rookie season on 33 percent shooting, Poole found a way to become of the lone Warriors to see his numbers improve with two-time MVP Stephen Curry back on the court. Poole notched 12 points per game and shot 43 percent from the field.
Adding a player to fill backup minutes would’ve been brutal for a player like Poole. Nico Mannion, assuming he cracks the roster yet again, would also see minimal time. For Poole, his role was likely locked in, but the amount of time he gets in the role wasn’t.
If the Warriors would’ve gone Davion Mitchell at 14 or even at 7, it could’ve hurt Poole’s minutes. On top of that, had Jalen Suggs somehow dropped to No. 7, Poole would’ve been an afterthought in the rotation.
Two forwards was an ideal addition for Poole who can continue as an explosive scorer off the bench.
