Golden State Warriors veteran free agent target: James Johnson

Another veteran forward the Warriors could sign is James Johnson. Johnson, like Iguodala, does a little bit of everything. The 6-foot-7 34-year-old most recently spent time with the Pelicans and Mavericks.

He’s been with four teams over the last two seasons, so potentially finding some security in Golden State could be desired by Johnson. While not the athlete he once was, Johnson has continued to be a solid defender.

As for his scoring, this past season he averaged 7.2 points per game. He pulled down 3.5 rebounds and also averaged .8 blocks and .8 steals per game. Overall, he’s still a productive player that the Warriors should target.

Johnson wouldn’t be anything more than a backup small forward, helping lead the second unit. However, he’s a lengthy forward that should also be able to bring that veteran demeanor to the locker room.

It’s not the signing most would want, but if it were to happen, it shouldn’t be frowned upon either.
