Golden State Warriors veteran free agent target: Cody Zeller

Cody Zeller may not be the name every fan wants to hear that the Warriors signed, but he would offer terrific frontcourt depth for a team that played basically an entire month without a healthy center.

The Warriors need to ensure that doesn’t happen again, so they’ll somehow need to add another big man. Zeller played well alongside LaMelo Ball. This past season, he shot the second-highest percent from the field of his career. Zeller hit 56 percent of his shots.

Zeller also scored 9.4 points per game, and while it wasn’t his best showing, his per-36 minute average was the second-best of his career. The former Indiana Hoosier did more with fewer minutes last season.

Standing a big 6-foot-11, Zeller has good touch around the rim and is aggressive in looking for his own shot. Neither Wiseman nor Looney give the Warriors the same combination of size, aggression, and experience.

It’s not a big name, but Zeller would be a helpful addition.
