Golden State Warriors can give Andre Drummond a chance

Let’s not sugarcoat it, Andre Drummond’s time in Los Angeles last season was embarrassing. All things considered, he’ll be lucky to still be on an NBA team this year. However, for all the talk of LeBron James being the best candidate to steer Drummond in the right direction — Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors might be able to do even better.

Drummond wasn’t set up for success in LA. The spacing was atrocious with a hobbled James and Anthony Davis. He played a majority of his minutes without an All-Star on the court next to him and when James and AD returned, they were far from their superstar selves.

This isn’t to excuse Drummond’s horrific two-way performances. But, it should be noted he never played an ideal role with the Lakers. In contrast, the Warriors can offer him the perfect chance for retribution.

It’s as simple as being a safety valve for James Wiseman. In the event Wiseman needs more time to develop, Drummond can act as another piece to the puzzle next to Kevon Looney to provide the Warriors with some additional depth.
