Why the Golden State Warriors should sign Iguodala: He’d be cheap

Iguodala is going to be a player that signs for the veteran’s minimum despite having his team option that was an eight-figure value declined.

He’s just not playing at the level that someone expecting over $10 million is at. Along those lines, not many teams would be willing to pay Iggy big money as he’s 37 years old and is certainly past his prime.

Iggy averaged just 4.4 points in 21.3 minutes per game last season. His per-36 minute average has continued to wane over the past several seasons, and with him potentially on the minimum, the Warriors will have every opportunity to sign him.

The Warriors and Iguodala parted ways on good terms, so there shouldn’t be any bad blood there. Along those lines, Golden State really doesn’t have many better options as they’re cap-strapped due to their four top players all on max-value contracts.

Iguodala being willing to accept the minimum is one reason the Warriors should go all-in on him as they have little to lose even if he can’t contribute at the level he once could.
