Golden State Warriors should NOT pursue JJ Redick

JJ Redick is a sniper, there is no denying that. In all honesty, he’s one of the best off-ball shooters the NBA has ever seen. He’s constantly running around screens and applying pressure to the defense — attributes that the Golden State Warriors should find admirable.

However, the time has passed for Redick to be a worthy addition to the Dubs. Though he remains an effective shooter, he has declined in other key areas such as defending and playmaking. He isn’t the same guy who can play 30 minutes a night anymore, either.

Redick averaged just 7.4 points in an injury-plagued season last year. Match this to the production that Jordan Poole gave the Warriors at 12.0 points on similar shooting splits and you can see that Redick is not a good fit in Golden State.

The Warriors are better giving Poole these minutes and allowing him to continue growing as a shooter and creator. His youth might cost them at times but he’s earned the right to prove himself next season and Redick just isn’t a good enough player to change that.
