Golden State Warriors can consider Josh Hart

Another player who might be difficult for the Golden State Warriors to acquire is Josh Hart. But, at this point, it doesn’t hurt to try.

Hart is a restricted free agent and the New Orleans Pelicans don’t really have a reason to let him walk at such a low price the Warriors would be offering. For this reason, a sign-and-trade is the most logical way Hart would end up in Golden State.

Do the Warriors have the right assets to make this work? Possibly. Kevon Looney is the only player who they can outright use to match salary but other packages including a combination of Damion Lee, Mychal Mulder and Gary Payton could get it done, as well. Toss in draft compensation and the Pelican should be interested.

How does Hart help the Warriors? Well, he’s another wing defender who can check the perimeter and space the floor offensively. Though he’s a below-average 3-point shooter, he isn’t much worse than Kelly Oubre — the guy he’d need to replace in the Warriors’ rotation.

It’s hard to find a perfect deal that satisfies the Pelicans in a potential sign-and-trade. Nevertheless, the Warriors would be happy to add Hart to the roster before the end of free agency.
