Golden State Warriors can consider J.J. Reddick

The final spot here came down to three players. Dennis Schroder, Denzel Valentine and J.J. Reddick. With Schroder signing a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics — I ultimately went with Reddick.

Previously, I wrote about why the Dubs should probably pass on Reddick. However, if the hunt for an additional guard comes down to Reddick or Valentine — Reddick is the right choice by a longshot. This is for some obvious reasons.

For starters, Valentine is a below-average offensive player who is (at best) an average defender. He isn’t much of a shooter and he doesn’t have a great history of playmaking. Though Reddick is a worse defender, he at least provides value on the other end of the floor.

Reddick is still a sniper who can be used off-ball as a constant threat to shoot. He’s a perfect fit in the Warriors’ motion offense and can act as a Klay Thompson replacement for the early portions of the season.

Above all else, Reddick’s veteran experience is going to be a welcomed sight in the locker room. Plus, it’d be fun to see Draymond Green on a few more podcasts.
