Golden State Warriors player clinging to rotational spot: Mychal Mulder

Even without Klay Thompson, the Golden State Warriors have a loaded shooting guard rotation. It will ultimately start with Thompson, but after him, there’s Damion Lee, Jordan Poole, and Moses Moody.

The current thought process is that Poole will be the backup point and Lee will most likely be giving the start until Thompson return. That leaves Mulder and Moody splitting minutes which should be good enough to keep Mulder in the rotation.

The problem truly mounts for the former Wildcat when Thompson returns. Mulder is a good player, but at 6-foot-3, he’d have to prove incredibly efficient in the minutes he’ll be allocated.

Mulder averaged just 5.6 points per game this past season, although half that of the season before. His real use comes in his three-point shooting, which he did at almost a 40 percent rate last season.

If that can increase even further, he should his spot on the roster; however, with Moody, Lee, and Mulder all fighting for minutes behind Thompson, the latter may not see as many as he’d like.
