Damian Lillard might be available to the Golden State Warriors

It feels like we are destined for many more months of Damian Lillard trade rumors. Since the star refuses to admit he isn’t happy in Portland — and the Trail Blazers don’t appear to be building a serious contender around him anytime soon, we’re just going to be stuck in this purgatory for quite a while.

That is unless Lillard finally pushes for an out. In this case, the Golden State Warriors will be one team with the assets necessary to acquire him. All that’s left is actually having the need for Lillard. Which as of now, the Warriors simply don’t have that.

Of course, we are discussing doomsday scenarios, however. Meaning the Dubs are outside of the playoff picture at the deadline and just can’t wait for their young core to develop. Does this make Lillard a realistic trade target?

I’d still heir on the side of saying no. For as fantastic as a three-guard lineup of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Lillard would be — they are too vulnerable defensively. Unless the Warriors orchestrate a mega-deal that hauls in a few wing defenders to go along with Lillard, I can’t see this being the best move available.
