Golden State Warriors should monitor Pascal Siakam

Finally, we have an elite talent who actually makes sense suiting up for the Golden State Warriors. Pascal Siakam is a clear upgrade from Andrew Wiggins but how much better would he actually make the team? Is Siakam good enough to warrant a blockbuster deal?

Over the last two seasons, Siakam has broken out as a true star. He’s averaging 22.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists on similar efficiencies to Wiggins. Where Wiggins is a superior shooter, Siakam is a more well-rounded slasher and playmaker.

Both Siakam and Wiggins are solid defensively. This makes swapping the two basically a moot point for the Warriors who would only see minimal benefits from replacing Wiggins with Siakam. However, one area where Siakam truly holds an advantage is his experience.

Siakam has won a championship and played a huge role in doing so. He’s more than comfortable being a role player and up to this point in their careers, Siakam has looked more reliable in big moments than Wiggins.

Where this potential deal begins to crumble is the cost of acquiring Siakam. The Warriors can’t afford to give up too much in return for a player who marginally improves the roster. Yet, if doomsday comes and the Toronto Raptors feel ready to move on from Siakam, a mutually beneficial deal could arise in February.

This makes Siakam a player to monitor moving forward. He still isn’t a home run but he’s a better option than anyone else on this list and truthfully, the only available star player the Dubs should be looking at with any actual interest.
