8. Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic is here to stay. The 22-year-old is on a pretty decent trajectory, acting as one of the best all-around players in the NBA already.

Last season, Doncic posted 27.7 points, 8.6 assists and 8.0 rebounds while shooting close to 50 percent from the floor. He’s a mastermind with the ball and can single-handedly put his team in a position to compete with anybody.

We saw this firsthand in the Tokyo Olympics as Doncic pushed Slovenia to a top-four finish behind an All-Star caliber string of games. In addition to netting the third-ever Olympic triple-double, Doncic tied the men’s basketball record with 48 points over Argentina.

The only thing holding Doncic back at this point is his supporting cast. The Dallas Mavericks have not done a good enough job at finding a quality sidekick to pair with Doncic. This will limit their ability to compete for a championship but there is no doubt Doncic is a top individual player in this league.

7. Joel Embiid

The Philadelphia 76ers finished with the best record in the Eastern Conference behind MVP candidate Joel Embiid’s 28.5 points per game. Yet, they fell short to the Atlanta Hawks in such a disastrous fashion that the franchise is considering shaking things up by trading Ben Simmons.

Whatever happens, Embiid will remain the face of Philly basketball. He’s arguably the best post-scorer in the NBA and his ability to protect the paint is unmatched. Embiid has shown unreal timing and shot-blocking skills throughout his time in the league.

Though Embiid still struggles to pass out of the post and he can sometimes become too reliant on jump shots, he is going to have another impactful season as long as he’s healthy.
