Kevin Durant is actually a seven-footer

It was a brief moment in the conversation that was mostly glossed over — but Draymond Green gave us insight into something that people have been speculating for years. How tall is Kevin Durant actually?

Entering the 2007 NBA Draft combine, Durant was listed as 6’9″ without shoes and 6’10” with shoes. Since then, he’s been generally posted as a 6’9″ or 6’10” player each year when the measurements are released. Despite ongoing controversy due to him always looking taller than the other players who are supposedly taller than him — Durant was still listed at 6’9″ as recently as the 2018-19 NBA season on the Golden State Warriors official team page.

Well, the debate should finally be over. Green put it all on the table, telling Durant “You’re seven feet, you’ll never admit it but you’re seven feet.” They went on to discuss how being tall as a kid made it difficult for them to overcome the stigma of being a post player.

"“I always wanted to be a point guard or a shooting guard but I was growing so fast coaches wanted to stick me under the basket” Via Chips"

Thankfully, some coach along the line realized Durant is pretty dang good at being on the perimeter. And, we can give thanks to both KD and Green for turning basketball into a positionless game.
