Kevin Durant has no regrets about joining (or leaving) the Golden State Warriors

Getting through life without any major regrets is a blessing that truly few of us can say we accomplished. For Kevin Durant, however, there seems to be no remorse for his decision to join the Golden State Warriors and ultimately leave them after three years.

While everyone was quick to jump on Durant for being a “weak” superstar — his whole reason for joining the Warriors was to stop being second place. He’s a competitor and the only thing he cared about was being the best. As Durant told Green, he fell in love with everything the Dubs were building and felt it was the best place to elevate his game.

"(Durant on being second) “People wanted me to accept being second so much. That was never my mentality, I wanted to win the game… (Durant on joining the Warriors) No brainer, I would do that sh** a million times”"

And, he was right. Durant had his most successful run in Golden State, winning back-to-back titles and narrowly missing on the rare three-peat. Both Green and Durant agree that they would have “easily” won against Toronto had they not been ravaged by injuries.

As for his decision to leave the franchise in 2019, Durant also had no regrets. A few factors played a role in him leaving (as we will see) but he ultimately felt it was time to move on to a new destination where he is happy to embrace the challenge of winning another title alongside one of his closest NBA friends in Kyrie Irving.
