Golden State Warriors most likely traded: Jonathan Kuminga

Many of the young Warriors players are going to be the ones targeted in any trade. Jonathan Kuminga, who slipped past the first six picks in the 2021 NBA Draft, was immediately picked up by Golden State at 7.

Kuminga is an ultra-athletic yet very raw talent. His shooting and playmaking will still need to improve, but during the Las Vegas Summer League, we saw his immense upside. If Golden State pulls off a blockbuster trade, Kuminga will likely headline it.

But, after his summer league showing, there’s no denying that it won’t be easy for the other organization.

Kuminga averaged 17.3 points per game yet, as expected, shot under 40 percent from the field. His three-point shooting was under 30 percent as well, so while he was a walking highlight reel, Kuminga’s stardom is far from set in stone.

The Warriors should be in win-now mode, and if that’s the case, trading Kuminga, who will be more of a long-term project than Moody, makes sense.
