It is no secret that the Golden State Warriors are banking on Jonathan Kuminga being the next face of the franchise — or a borderline future All-Star, at the very least. However, it is also no secret that Kuminga has a long way to go before reaching those marks.

Kuminga was selected with the No. 7 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft despite being marketed as a top-four player in terms of raw talent. He’s a high-risk, high-reward type of prospect. For many lottery teams, Kuminga’s journey to becoming a star seemed like too much work.

The Warriors are prepared for the long game. Although they have every reason to compete for a championship immediately with Kuminga acting as a substantial role player — the Dubs are also looking ahead to the next decade of basketball and keeping Kuminga’s development in mind as they move forward.

There are a few areas that Kuminga will need to focus his attention on if he wants to one day take the mantle. He has all the potential in the world and he should succeed if he can accomplish these three goals.
