Golden State Warriors target to avoid: Ben Simmons

Sure, if you take Wiggins and Wiseman, I’d probably take that, but the Sixers, unless Simmons makes an unprecedented move, aren’t going to take just that, especially given their price tag on the star before.

Simmons was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year, but his value was destroyed after his passiveness was on full display late in playoffs games. When he needed to score, he passed, even on a wide-open dunk.

Ending the season averaging 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game, Simmons earned his third straight All-Star appearance. The former No. 1 overall pick is certainly still in the prime of his career.

Another nice perk about a potential trade for Simmons is that he’ll be under contract for three years following the 2021-2022 season. However, the risk, given his inability to shoot and offensive similarity to Draymond Green, is too high to mortgage too much of the future.

Wiseman and Wiggins plus maybe one first-round pick should be the only thing the Warriors entertain.
