As excited as we all are to see Klay Thompson suit up for the Golden State Warriors once more, the reality is we will have to wait a little bit longer for this much anticipated moment. Thompson isn’t going to be ready to return from his knee injury so soon –meaning someone will have to step up.

Klay Thompson won’t be back on day one. Here are three players who will be pivotal for the Golden State Warriors in his absence.

Currently, the plan is for Thompson to return around Christmas time. Though this isn’t set in stone, it is one of the most optimistic dates for Klay’s emphatic reunion with Stephen Curry and the Dubs.

This means the Warriors will have to play roughly 30 games without one-half of the Splash Brothers. This could be a brutal and sobering stretch for the Dubs if they stumble out of the gates. What’s more, a losing record heading into Xmas against Phoenix would place unnecessary pressure on Klay to return and help steer the ship back on course as soon as possible.

In order to negate this potential issue, the Dubs will simply need a few players to step up and perform. Thankfully, the rotation is a bit deeper than it has been over the last two years and numerous guys have the capabilities to fill in for Klay.
