Andrew Wiggins

Andrew Wiggins has long been overlooked by NBA fans. The fact that he was so hyped entering the league and the massive price tag that has been next to his name since signing an extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves have all combined to dampen Wiggins’ reputation.

But, Wiggins has been one hell of a player since joining the Golden State Warriors. As many assumed, this change of scenery (and role) has benefited the former No. 1 overall pick. He is now in a position to maximize his physical gifts without dealing with the ever-mounting pressure of being an alpha dog.

Leading a team was never in the cards for Wiggins. What is in his wheelhouse, however, is being an impactful two-way presence who can act as a connector piece for offense and defenses. His skills as a shot creator are beautifully complimented by his growth as a passer and of course, a defender.

Wiggins was a huge component to the Warriors being a top-tier defensive team last season. His effort on the perimeter will be needed once again in Klay Thompson’s absence and as the former star returns to full strength.

While Wiggins may never get recognition from other NBA fanbases, the Warriors should prepare to provide him with overwhelming support as he takes on one of the most pivotal, unsung roles on the team this season.
