Pascal Siakam is NOT a target for Golden State Warriors

Recently, Bleacher Report made a bold (if that’s the right word?) prediction that the Golden State Warriors would trade an unprecedented haul for Pascal Siakam. A package of Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody AND future draft picks were included for the low-tier All-Star.

Skipping past the absurdity of gutting this roster for Siakam, let’s focus primarily on how Siakam would fit with the team in this hypothetical. Acting as the replacement for Wiggins, Siakam can provide an equal amount of defense and possibly a bit more shot creation in the form of attacking the paint off the dribble.

Siakam’s addition would help relieve Stephen Curry of some pressure. However, losing Wiggins, Wiseman, Moody and Kuminga likely increase the amount of overall pressure the two-time MVP would be feeling.

Even if we lower the cost here to something much more reasonable — say a package of Wiggins and either Wiseman OR Kuminga, the upgrade isn’t significant enough to warrant shaking up this roster in such a large way at the deadline.

The Dubs have placed faith in their young core and if they somehow lose this faith by February they will still shoot for a bigger return than Siakam. So, we can write Siakam off as a target, for now.
