Damian Lillard is probably NOT a target for Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors plan to stubbornly stick to their guns with this ongoing rebuild / current dynasty run. However, if there is one superstar player the Dubs would likely sell the farm for later in the season if things get spooky then it would have to be Damian Lillard.

Lillard is the extra shot creator and elite offensive presence the Warriors are missing. He’s the closest thing to being Stephen Curry in terms of pure 3-point shooting and live-action creation off the dribble. It would be truly difficult to contain a backcourt of Lillard and Curry. Plus, his presence helps ease Klay Thompson into the fray.

Even with that being said, I do NOT think Lillard is a target anymore. It is difficult to find decisive reports neither denying nor confirming Lillard is on the Warriors’ radar. While this leads me to believe they are likely leaving the door open in case he becomes available, I think we can conclude the Dubs are not actively targeting Lillard.

Lillard isn’t the greatest fit for Golden State. Forcing him into the lineup next to the Splash Brothers creates a three-guard dynamic that would be effective offensively but a worry on the defensive end. For this, all signs point towards the Warriors holding onto their assets rather than swinging for Dame.
