Golden State Warriors offseason move: Signing Otto Porter Jr.
The Golden State Warriors were in the business of adding veterans this offseason, signing both Otto Porter Jr. and Andre Iguodala.
While both should have important roles, the former should have the higher ceiling with the most concerning part of his game being if he can stay on the court. Porter Jr., over the last three seasons, has struggled to stay healthy.
The 6-foot-8 forward has played in 42 games over the past two seasons, and while he should have a rotational spot, it will obviously only be there for as long as he’s healthy.
As with Bjelica, he does pose a terrific threat from deep with a career three-point percentage over 40. A former top-three pick, at his best, Porter Jr. averaged 14.7 points per game.
That season, he shot over 50 percent from the field and over 44 percent from deep. Having been with three teams over the last three years, Porter Jr. should be able to find a home and get his rhythm back with Golden State.
That said, as the backup small forward, his role should be a pivotal one, especially until Klay Thompson returns.
