Paul Millsap bolsters Golden State Warriors’ frontcourt

(EDIT – Paul Millsap has signed with the Brooklyn Nets)

Throughout the years, the Golden State Warriors have always had a consistent frontcourt. Though the center position was always deemed their “weakness” it is hard to deny the value of players like Andrew Bogut, JaVale McGee and Kevon Looney during their three championships.

Of course, Paul Millsap is different from those players of the past. He’s shorter and more of an offensive threat than a rebounder or rim protector at this stage in his career. Fortunately, this could be exactly what the Dubs need.

Golden State is already hoping James Wiseman will blossom into the paint-beast they need down low. And, Looney is still on the roster for depth purposes. This means Millsap can slide into the frontcourt as a shooter — something the team is lacking among their bigs.

Millsap shot 34.3 percent from deep last year, which also happens to be his career average. This doesn’t make him a sniper by any means but it is an upgrade from the likes of Draymond Green. Add in his ability to score in the post and Millsap sets himself apart from other members of the Warriors. This versatility on offense could come in handy for the squad.
