Why Ben Simmons is worth risk for Warriors: He can elongate dynasty

Ben Simmons is young and under contract. It’s been five years since he was at LSU, missing his rookie season. He did win Rookie of the Year his second year and has since not had many injury concerns.

Simmons signed a massive contract during the 2019 offseason. He’s locked up well into the future. The 2024-2025 season is the last of his current contract. It’s a great factor when looking to dish many future assets.

While he is owned over $30 million in each of the four remaining seasons, Simmons is just 25, and he has the longevity to keep the Warriors a successful franchise for the distant future.

If you can get Simmons without giving up Kuminga, you have the future of the franchise. That’s the ideal goal in any Simmons trade as one of their two young stars would likely have to be dealt. For Golden State, one, not both, should be fine.
