Warriors: Klay Thompson “I’m going to bounce back, that’s a fact”
By Tony Pesta
Confidence is an underrated aspect of basketball. You can have all of the skill in the world — but if you lack the courage to leave it all on the floor, you’ll never get anywhere. Thankfully, lack of confidence has never been an issue for Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors.
Even before the Splash Brothers were NBA Champions and one of the greatest backcourts in league history, it was their wide-eyed approach to the game that allowed them to embark on a revolutionary journey. Those overzealous, overconfident kids that took the San Antonio Spurs to six games in the 2013 NBA Playoffs are the same ones who will look to reclaim their throne nearly a decade later.
Progress in life is rarely ever a straight line. This sentiment rings true for Thompson who has suffered several setbacks in his return since falling with a knee injury in the 2019 NBA Finals. And yet, he hasn’t lost any of his confidence. According to Klay, he will be back and better than ever.
Klay Thompson has triumphantly declared there is nothing stopping him from a bounce-back season with the Golden State Warriors.
"By the grace of God, I will be balling. Injuries are no fun, but it’s part of sports. What can you do? … All you can do is keep moving forward for real. … I’m going to bounce back, that’s a fact. I guarantee that.”Via Klay Thompson IG"
This is the type of attitude needed to overcome such a devasting string of injuries. Thompson has the right mentality of taking a balanced approach to his return — but acknowledging that this minor setback is setting the stage for a major comeback. (This level of confidence is probably needed to pull off the Jackie Moon look Thompson is previewing on his Instagram, as well).
The Dubs can not wait much longer for Thompson to bounce back. This roster is bursting at the seams with talent but they are sorely missing the Robin to Curry’s Batman. Having the NBA’s best sidekick in the lineup once again is going to vault the Warriors back into title contention.
