The Golden State Warriors loyal fanbase hasn’t seen fan-favorite guard Klay Thompson play since the last game of the 2018-2019 season. In Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, Thompson tore his ACL.

The pain didn’t stop there as he tore his Achilles when rehabbing to get back on to the court last season. Thompson’s two season-ending injuries have been brutal for fans who love watching one of the best shooters to ever grace the hardwood.

Golden State Warriors five-time All-Star guard Klay Thompson promises that he’s going to be “balling out” this upcoming season.

Up until these back-to-back injuries, Thompson was on pace for one of the greatest careers of this generation. With three championships and a potential for a fourth, Thompson didn’t just crush that season’s hopes, but he crippled last season’s team.

Two-time MVP Stephen Curry did what he could, but it just wasn’t enough despite his campaign as the league’s scoring champion. However, per Thompson, that pain shouldn’t last as he’ll be back and “balling.”

Per Thompson’s Instagram Live via ESPN, the star guard said, “I’m balling out this season. By the grace of God I will be balling. Injuries are no fun, but it’s a part of sports….. I’m going to bounce back, that’s a fact. I guarantee that.”

Thompson had averaged over 20 points per game for five consecutive seasons. What’s made him such an elite wingman has been his ability to shoot. He’s hit over 40 percent of his attempts from deep in each of his eight seasons in the league.

Thompson had also been an ironman. He had played in over 70 games in each of those seasons dating back to his second season in the league. It’s been a discouraging stint with him sidelined, but as he noted, injuries are a part of sports.

For Klay, the expectation is that he’ll be able to bounce back and be on the court by Christmas. After both injuries, I’m sure the training staff will be easing him back into the conditioning that it takes to play at an NBA level.

For now, Christmas seems like a good time for him to return, especially as it’s just a month or two into the season’s commencement. The Warriors should still have time to miss the play-in tournament and rank as a top-tier Western Conference side.

That said, while the date isn’t set in stone, one thing is for sure — Dub Nation cannot wait to get him back on the court.
