Golden State Warriors: 3 reasons why season opener versus LAL matters
Time to see what their impressive-looking roster can do
The Ben Simmons discussion aside, the Warriors were one of the winners of the offseason making some solid moves. They added Otto Porter Jr., Andre Iguodala, and Nemanja Bjelica to signal a strong and stable bench. Jordan Poole’s game saw an upward climb, Andrew Wiggins has been reliable while James Wiseman’s rookie season gave them the faith that the kid could hold his own.
Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody come in as quick learners and show promise of being playoff-ready when the time comes. Pit them against James, Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard, it’s the perfect side to test their mettle.
Plus, there’s Curry coming on the back of what has been a lone gun-slinger season where he set some incredible stats.
They also have to be prepared if things go south. Say, Wiseman and the rookies aren’t ready for the higher form of challenge, or if Poole and Wiggins go through a slump of sorts, or if Klay, Green, and Curry aren’t themselves.
A win will give them the confidence to take each game as a challenge, a loss will do that too. But the outcome isn’t something that can be taken easily.
