Jonathan Kuminga is the Warriors’ first international lottery pick since Ekpe Udoh (2010)

The game of basketball is spreading all across the globe as international players take the NBA by storm. The last three MVPs (Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounnmpo x2) are from outside of the states while some of the game’s most exciting young prospects (Luka Doncic) are from overseas, as well.

Then, there is Jonathan Kuminga, the highest international draft pick for the Golden State Warriors since the start of last decade. Ekpe Udoh was the most recent, selected No. 6 overall in the 2010 NBA Draft out of Nigeria.

Kuminga, born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, was taken No. 7 by the Dubs and will hope to have a career more similar to other current foreign stars rather than Udoh — who only averaged 3.5 points in seven seasons.

The Warriors are excited to bring Kuminga to the roster. His potential as a multi-faceted freak athlete who can lead the next era of Dubs’ basketball is going to make him a focal point moving forward.
