The Golden State Warriors retooled their roster over the offseason and feel confident they will be in the mix to compete for the Western Conference title. However, these five teams will be standing in their way.

A number of challengers will emerge next season as the Golden State Warriors look to topple the Western Conference once again.

The NBA’s Western Conference has long been viewed as the dominant one. While the last 10 championships have been split evenly between the two conferences — the West has typically been deeper with more teams battling for playoff position.

This makes life for the Warriors a bit more difficult. Though the return of Klay Thompson and numerous other additions will give them a strong enough supporting cast to compete once again — the West has not gotten any easier.

Golden State will find themselves right in the middle of the pack entering the season. How they respond to various challenges will determine if they rise above or fall out of the Playoff picture. Regardless, these five teams will be the ones most likely to push Golden State to the brink.
